TO BEAT OR NOT TO BEAT!

I NEED NEW HEADPHONES! my previous pair broke last week and I have been headphone-less since then. As many of you may know I LOVE to listen to music so not having headphones or a car or a speaker system in my room is rather painful. Listening to music on my laptop speakers just doesn't cut it. Not only am I not able to listen to music, I also cannot MAKE music. For me to properly make beats and listen to what I have recorded I need headphones so that I can get the sounds right. I am a perfectionist when it comes to making beats/music so NOT BEING ABLE TO LISTEN TO MY SHIT IS PISSING ME OFF!

Now to the point of this post.

WHAT SHOULD I BUY?!?!?!

Should I invest the $250 dollars and buy some Beats by Dr. Dre? Probably the best over the head studio headphones out right now. OR should I get the Klipsh S4 in ear headphones for $80 dollars?

I'm hesitant on the Beats because I wanna listen to music on the way to class and while walking around but because it is now winter and raining like a beezy so the risk of the over the ear headphones being damaged is greater. Also just them getting damaged in general while travelling with me is higher than in ear headphones. Thus the Klipsh's seem like the better option.

Another reason to get the Klipsh's is that even 6 months before they were released to the public they were the top rated in-ear headphones around. They were just released last month and are still the top rated in-ears you can get for pretty cheapsies. The issue with them is that they are in ear so you do sacrifice some sound quality and also if I drag these around with me everywhere in my pocket like I do with all of my other in-ear phones then they will probably only last me 6 months or so. UGH

SO the question is: 80 bucks for a 6 month investment but more convenience? Or $250 for the best shit out there but less convenience?

I know this isn't a real post, but I really cannot figure out what I want to do haha. Also my drum instructor job, which would be bringing in about 120-150 dollars a week, is still up in the air because the 2 families called saying that I am second on their list of instructors because I don't have teaching experience. However they did like me and my lesson plans a lot so they are trying out one of the other guys for 2 weeks and will call me back. -___________- lame but still nice of them to let me know. Probably helped that I was so honest with them in my interview. CROSS YOU'RE FINGERS FOR ME because if I get this job then the money problem with buying the Beats is solved hahaha.

First of all, HELLO WORLD! I'M BACK! I apologize for the long absence from the blogosphere. Thanks to having a busy summer and still being able to keep in touch with pretty much everyone I haven't found it necessary to be blogging haha. As RJ points out, most of us blog more when we either have too much time to think or are not necessarily in the best moods, so my blog hiatus could be attributed to having a pretty good life over the past few months =).

ANYWAY...

So far this quarter has been pretty easy. Most of my classes have not really begun rolling yet and thus I have not really needed to study. I have A+'s in all my classes after 6 quizzes and multiple homework assignments. Thus, the past few weekends have been filled with more fun and homework assignments and less studying.

This Sunday, a day usually consumed by football, both fantasy and televised, was different. I woke up surprisingly early, after sleeping unnecessarily late, and I was PRODUCTIVE! I studied math by doing 140 problems and did two Bio problem sets in about 4 to 5 hours. After I finished my second problem set I started thinking about this short paper I had to write for my Mushroom, Mold and Society class. The point of the paper was to design and test our own experiment in order for us to become familiar with the scientific method. Yes, it's lame, and yes, it is completely irrelevant to the study of mushrooms, mold and society. Therefore, I decided that I would recycle one of the papers I had written in my nutrition class regarding the effects of energy drinks on the human body.

As you may know, I am not one of those people who enjoys writing papers. Usually my paper writing process begins in the wee hours of the morning that the paper is due and doesn't end until 5 minutes before I am ready to turn it in. So naturally my mind wandered as I began to recycle/edit this paper. I started out by thinking about how productive I had already been (high levels of productivity are rare occurrences unless the work has a deadline coming up in the next few hours). I wondered what were the events in my surroundings that caused this high level of productivity:

Was it the fact that I was out until 4am last night? No.

Was it that my room is a complete mess? No.

Was any of the work due today? No.

In the next few hours? No.

Was any of it even due at all? No silly, you did it to study....

OH! WTF?!?!

So after asking myself these and many other questions (and playing a few games of bejeweled) I had an epiphany: I WAS PRODUCTIVE BECAUSE I WAS SITTING AROUND IN MY BOXERS ALL MORNING! THAT'S WHY STRIPPERS AND HOES MAKE SO MUCH MONEY! THEY RARELY HAVE CLOTHES ON! (hence the title of this post)

This epiphany actually led to another rare occurrence. I DECIDED TO DO MORE WORK! Yes folks, me, Meher "Lazy Ass" Kohli, decided to do more work. I chose to NOT recycle that old paper and write a new one on the study of the effects of less clothing on productivity. Yeah bitches, that is now the topic of my paper. I am currently in the process of coming up with tests and controls in order for me to test this hypothesis...

So here's to sitting around half-naked for 6 hours...and being productive because of it.

In regards to my inability to write for an extended period of time, I have yet to write the actual body of my paper lol. I have had an introduction since 3pm and have proceeded to distract myself thoroughly for about 4 and a half hours. This blog post is also a testament to my willingness to distract myself from writing because this blog post has also been in the works since 3pm this afternoon. HOW WIN AM I!

Now I am off to getting ready for our first IM football game. I am super pumped. Our team looks pretty good and we've already practiced 3 times this week. WE ARE GONNA DOMINATE!

so i havent been on this shit in AGES! like iono when the last time i blogged was. stupid twitter. hahaha. oh well here goes. thisll prbly be short cuz i am really jetlagged and about to crash. so far this trip has been pretty awesomesauce (minus some setbacks on the plane ride).

I'm to lazy to recap my day but i honestly think that i would like to live in singapore again at some point in my life haha. this place is so awesome. i visited my old apartment complex and school and it brought back some good memories. hella shit has changed since i was here last about 9 years ago haha but its still sick. shei and marshmillow u guys would HELLA dig all the shopping here. my mom even made a comment. she was like "meher u should bring ur friends here they would love the shopping" hahaha yes if everyone saves up for the next 3 years or something we can come to singapore lol.

APPLEBEEZIES!!!!

So if you have not been following my twitter then you may not know that going to Applebees has been a very routine event for the past few months haha. So today i went to applebees with some applebees happy hour virgins. My homies Zippy, Cheeto, Dimitri, and Josh (Gurdev was there too but he is a regular hahaha). It was hella fun I chilled with these guys all day today, which is not something I usually do, it was a nice change. But basically this applebees trip was quite epic. we all ended up ordering HELLA shit. (on a side note, i had already been to the DC twice between 5 and 9 pm LOL! im a fatass). 

The main point of this post is the different type of black people. Now you may think, WTF! what does that have to do with anything??? but it actually does. lemme give you a background on Dimitri and Josh. Dimitri is a black guy from Santa Barbara, Josh is a black guy from Daly City. Dimitri is an African-American male, and Josh is my NIGGA! LOL! seriously the differences in their vocabulary and accent and the way they talk is HELLA funny. they are both smart guys, not bashing their intelligence in any way, at all. But its really funny. Body language is completely different for the two. You would think that Dimitri dresses "gangsterer" but he just spends alot of money on expensive hiphop clothing haha but "the nigga finna win a nobel prize" according to Josh. No doubt Dimitri has his black moments and in front of new people he puts his thug attitude on just to fuck with them, its really entertaining. The first time i met Josh he gave me this long elaborate hand shake. like 4-6 diff hand movements and a lean-in from like 3 ft away to top off the hand shake. Today Josh proceeded to bash Dimitri for not being a "real nigga" it was really effing funny. They are both good friends so they make fun of each other quite a bit.

That's really all i have to say about that just thought it was funny. might be "you have to be there" moment, but yah. reminded me of this chris rock stand up haha

Break was the Ish...

So I havent really updated this in a while, probably because twitter is so damn convenient and I could see everyone's faces over break. SPEAKING OF WHICH, break was fucking EPIC!

TOO MUCH SHIT WENT DOWN!

after having an epic fail start to break, courtesy of 2 finals on the first saturday -_-, break got exponentially better by the day lol.

Saturday - didnt sleep thurs or friday before SO running on approx 5 hrs of sleep. took 2 finals (fuck math) then drove home with timmy badonkaf

then came the highlight of the day. TERRORISM AND WAR. the prof actually wasnt there today but he is supposed to hella good. but the TA lectured for like 10 min. he was super dry and sarcastically funny so it was good. and then we found out that we basically just watch movies and documentaries about various terrorist organizations and the wars theyve fought in and then at the end of the week we write a 25 words summary LOL. thats it 1 sentence. WIN! there is a midterm and a final but they are take home and then a term paper. HELLA BOMB CLASS! and its interesting. looking forward to it.

today was good day. woke up too early though (9:40am -_-). went to brunch/lunch with emmy sandy jason tim hermes peter andy, we ended up spending 2 hrs at the DC haha. ate ALOT! then we decided to give them a tour of davis. it was filled with us all acting like idiots but it was great. played a bit of flag football with some of tim and jason's fellowship friends. then came home and for the first time since senior year i actually am studying for math. I HATE MATH! calc blows kthx. ive been at it for upwards of 2 hrs and im already exhausted. possibly cuz i only slept 4 and ahalf hours last night but also maybe cuz I HATE MATH! haha. but its ok. i have to work on this crap in order to get a good grade ugh...

yesterday i watched the the best opening to an office episode EVER! that shit was soooooo damn funny.

matt and vivek visited on thurs too twas hellllla funn. we just ate chipotle talked in richas dorm for a while. then i somehow got a free hookah from ishan as we were leaving from there lol it looks cool. then came back to my place and we ponged as usual lol. then we proceeded to watch jon stewart DEMOLISH kramer and that led to us drunk discussing/debating SOOO MUCH SHIT! it was awesome and very amusing and actually interesting cuz people were still making sense haha.

wow...

this post is separated into 2 parts. first, i cant believe it...when i first heard the news it did not register in my mind that he was gone. i hadnt talked to him since junior year. i tried to sleep, went to visit neri, ryan, chinchin and arjun, but then when i came back at 2ish i just sat there thinking. he was one of the first people i met in kennedy when i had just moved from singapore. everyone called him "seagull" i didnt know why so during one of the first debate club meetings in 6th grade i asked him why people called him "seagull" and he convinced me that it was because when he got really excited he made sounds like a seagull. through debate club he and i became friends. he hung out in blair's room with us and i remember him always trying to beat his record for how fast he could chug a starbucks frappacino. if i remember correctly it was 7th grade when he did it in under 2 seconds. he was always ready to take on the ever so douchebaggy mr. cellini when that idiot would show up in debate club. he would somehow always be able to fit in a joke aimed at cellini during the debate. one of his many amazing traits, his attitude was infectious. i always thought he would go on to be the next big stand up comedian or actor. his senior year he joined jazz band, he remembered me from middle school and made an effort to talk to me he always wanted to jam and was always cracking jokes and was just a fun person to be around. when dumplings and samosas came to being and he hosted open mic night he always said that "we were his favorite band". always kind always funny always willing to make a fool of himself for the sake of the show. if there was a dull moment in anything and he was around you could be sure that he would be able to cause everyone to burst out laughing in one way or another....

rip "seagull" you will be greatly missed.

i know none of this makes any sense im just blurting out memories and stuff but last night it just all came rushing back into my mind.

its been a while since I've updated this thing. This is due to the fact that I've been at my computer less, which is due to the fact that I have pretty much not been in davis for any weekend of this quarter lol. Also I got a twitter (username: "dhishoom", as usual lol) tweeting is addicting, there is no extra fluff like facebook haha. Its especially fun with the text updates so even when im not at my comp i can update the world on my UH-MAZE-ING life!

in other news. i tried to write a blog post earlier today but was thoroughly distracted by other stuff. honestly i dont know what. mostly twitter. and programming i guess. i really enjoy programming its fun to actually figure out stuff and get stuff to work but i always need company. last quarter me andy and my friend gurdev would have major coding sessions the night programs were due. they were hecka fun and even though they often came down to the wire having ppl there to share the stress made it fun haha. this quarter i pretty much have to code by myself cuz gurdev really doesnt know how to code at all. i am fersure carrying him in this class to the point that i code everything and he just changes up my code and turns it in as his own. i have no problem with that cuz he will be helping me with chem for the next 3 quarters cuz i hate chem and suck at it. and also he helps me with math. so its a good trade off. BUT STILL now i dont have anyone to share my program fun with lol. all engineers are fucking antisocial. i hope to be a new kind of engineer the type that can still HAVE A FUCKING LIFE and be awzm and amazing and be the reason everybody fired up this evenin.

last night...

was bullshit. ive been sick for the last 2 days but last night it got hella bad. FAT fever. FAT headache. FAT coughing. FAT sore throat and body aches. i tried to sleep at 12 i was legitly tired. couldnt sleep so i read almost every page of "art & sole" which is this sick book about custom shoes that mama shei got me for christmas. got up at 1:30am to get my mind off of the sick. took motrin. around 2ish the motrin kicks in, RELIEF. but then i couldnt sleep. so i watched the end of "The Wackness" which is a good movie in terms of story and moral and stuff but its just boring. kinda like seven pounds was. by then it was 3 am and i still couldnt sleep. so i just sat in bed...and thought...and thought some more...and rethought about what i was thinking about...then thought about something else...then rethought about thinking about something else...then thinking about why im thinking...basically letting my mind wander...then i looked at the clock and it was 4:47am. GOOD!! the combination of being mad/sad about some of what was going through my thinktank of a brain and realizing that the sun would rise in half an hour and remembering that my body felt like SHIT mustve caused my brain to overload and i passed out sometime before the sun actually did rise. UGH. i woke up at 9:30 cuz i NEEDED to take a shower cuz i was feeling cold again cuz of the fever then i tried to sleep again. went back to sleep at 11am with more motrin in me and i think i woke up at 2pm to go resign our lease for next year. YAY! my throat still effing burns but ive been living on honey and lemon tea its AWESOME...so its ok and motrin/tylenol are my best friends. i think i will name my first two children after those 2 brands. kthx

today katherine and i visited daryanz and pdao for a few hours. twas fun! =). went to a vegan/veg burger joint o.O which was actually REALLLLLY good. we wanted to go hookahing but all the lounges were closed -_-. the drive in the chinsters car was awesome both ways =). her buggy is SICKK haha. good thing we got that aux cable right? good adventure.

sad that it was a really short trip. both chinster and i had to be back by like 4 -_-. but we will prbly go to watch the berkeley vs slug volleyball game on feb6th and stay a night or 2 =) should be fun!!

the hair vaccum...

so i just got a haircut at the davis barber shop...the guy there is HELLA nice. and once he was done cutting my hair i thought i was ready to leave and he would take off the little hair-keeping-offing thing but he instead turns around and turns on this vaccum and im like "wtf, im still sitting here and ur gonna start cleaning the floor!!" but NO! he puts the vaccum on my head and it has a shaving brush thing on the front so its like soft and he VACCUMS UP THE HAIR HE CUT OFF MY HEAD!!! THATS SICKKK cuz usually when i get my buzz cuts i have to shower and takes ages to get all the hair out hahaha. but his vaccum was hella effective and i dont have to shower no more. ok that is all

so friday evening to night varun and i vegetated in front of the TV. watched a painful laker loss to orlando yet again...last minute loss to be precise...yet again...LAME. but thats ok still best record in the west thanks to crushing the cavs last night PUAHAHA. ok yah so friday was just chillin. then saturday went home got bored. nobody was free who was home (aka kathy and natalie) and arjun was in SF with his fambam. so i got epicly bored. but i did start a new beat which i really like and will hopefully turn out to be something that will make me rich...or not haha. OH saturday night actually was exciting for like 10 min. kathy had to drop something off at the library (i wont give details as to WHY she had to drop something off at the library at 10pm HAHAHA) and i decided to pick her up and take her there. remember that her house is not far from the library so she and i had a 5 min library adventure which was the best 5 minutes of the day hahaha.

then came sunday and my family went up to meet arjuns family for the day. we chilled. arjun had a migraine for most of afternoon so he was kinda out of it but we went to MOMA and that was kinda fun cuz my dad, arjuns dad, and i had hella fun making fun of shit there. then we went to the metreon to eat lunch. played some games at the playstation bar for like 10 min then we walked to union square. sat there. then ate dinner hecka early at an indian restaurant. it was weird cuz we were the only indians in this "fancy" indian restaurant cuz it was like 6 30 arjun and i bet that by the time we left from there the indians would have taken over. and we were right. every white person was replaced by an indian by the time we had left. twas funny. then my parents and arjuns parents decided that they wanted to party more so they left us kids at the hotel where arjun was staying at and he and i watched the end of pineapple express and the beginnning of tropic thunder with a food break in between to go to naan n curry lol. overall twas a good day...

yesterday was again boring...train ride home...watched laker game =). slept...

ok now to the good news. I AM GOING TO SOCAL in feb YIPEEE!! parents approved the trip.
then today i woke up and looked at my math grade and i got a 100% on my quiz yipee. thank u mr conlin but fuck 8 am math that i dont go to half the time.

that is all for now. going to dinner with varun tim and andy to figure out housing situation for next year. might go home and visit pdao and da ryanz with chinster and RJ so that should be fun if it works out...

i am so epicly bored...

home is boring when nobody is here...BLEHHHH...at least i get to go to SF tomorrow meeting up with rj's fam and andy's fam and varun and andy are gonna drive there from davis so should be fun. prbly be back in davis tomorrow night if i book my socal tix lol. if not then ill stay till monday to get those done haha wonderful...now its movie time =)

pride and glory...

is a good ass movie. i never feel sad or am super emotionally moved by movies but for some weird reason i was moved by this movie. although im positive that ive seen movies with this same plot/similar plots before. im not moved by sad love stories or anything and this movie didnt even focus on the love story but i couldnt help but feel sad for 2 of the characters' situations...weird...prbly was just cuz of the mood i was in but still...

i enjoy watching movies. im glad im not in the dorms so i am free to download new ones everyday (lol SUCKAS). i think i may take film studies class next quarter just so that i can watch movies for 3 hrs, 2 times a week and then write about them lol...

in other news. my scheduling situation got even more effed KINDA. i guess something good will come out of it but still im not happy. the good news is that i got into math 21B yay! but the bad news is now that i have 8 am class 3 times a week -______- aka the latest i can wake up is 8 am cuz i have 9 am class the other 2 days a week. this is gonna require some MAJOR sleep schedule modification. or just some major nappage. the other bad thing is that the professor is possibly the worst math professor ever. he lectures about shit thats completely unrelated to what he puts on the tests. so its like WTF!?!?!? oh well i will rely on what mr conlin taught me last year and hopefully pull out a good grade...

next paragraph...awesome transitions i know...last night i fixed my guitar for the first time since new years night when marc broke a string lol. i did not know how much i missed playing guitar. i learned 2 new songs last night thanks to skyping with mama shei. i kissed a girl and hot n cold. both CAN be sung with the same chords lol so i sometimes mix them up lol. YAY for generic melody lines that can fit multiple chord changes...

in regards to skyping. THANK GOD FOR IT! last night i had a nice long skype session with mama shei upwards of 4 hrs lol...we arent non stop talking for 4 hrs or anything but just having it on in the background is cool its like we are back home chillin if we feel like talking or need to say something we say something. meh that sounds stupid but yah i know what i mean in my head hahaha...PPL SKYPE ME MORE so we can have long distance hang out sessions!!!!

i am now getting lazy and sleepy so i will BLEH my thoughts out in fragments (not that the rest of my thoughts arent already fragments, these will be fragmented fragments)

i had a late ass pass-time before break so i couldnt get into the classes i needed for my major so now i have only 1 class giving me credit to my major. EFF MY LIFE. i was hoping to have my calc series DONE by the end of this year but NOOO...so retarded. and BIO is full. and STATS is full. and i cant take any more comp sci courses right now cuz its a series. BLAHHHHHHHHHh. from trying to make my schedule fit around the classes i need and trying to get on and off of waitlists i have accumulated 32 billing hours -________-. and on top of that. i cant work on the registration system after midnight. i was in the middle of fixing my schedule and promptly at 12am it just logs me off. THANKS SISWEB. U ROCK!!!!

i like basketball...

today i woke up early to go to class...i have 9 am class EVERYday this quarter...wonderful...but its ok ill deal. on monday and wed im done with class at 10 so its all good and tues thurs im done at 3 so its really all good. ill be more productive. today for example. woke up at 8 showered in a cold shower cuz the water heater was being a biatch. ATE BREAKFAST!!!! i havent done that in AGES! then hitched a ride to ECS 40 with gurdev...went to class which was supposed to end at 10 20am but it ended at 9 40 so gurdev and i went to the ARC to lift some weights. unfortunately there was a weight training class going on so it was crowded so he and i decided to play ball instead we played 3 games of some intense half court for a total of about 45 min playing time, though we were ther for an hour and half. then i went back home showered went to "brown ppl studies" aka indian civilization with the richanator and andy. chilled with richa for the rest of the day then chilled with chinster then went to dinner with lots of peeps CUZ I HAVE A MEAL PLAN NOW!! yeee no more mooching. then andy gurdev and i decided we needed to play more ball. so we went at 10 and played non stop for 2 hrs. I LOVE LATE NIGHT BBALL!!! such a good cardio workout haha. now i am ready for sleep so taht i can go to math at 9 tomorrow yipeee!!

so today my mom calls me my sister over to her laptop at around lunch time. both my sister and i run over and look at what she is pointing at and my mom goes "LOOK! this is a guy i dated before dad in college" and my sister goes "WOW! thank god...good job mom" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA my mom and i laughed for a good 5 min. that is all...
